Small Business of the Year
Eligibility: Less than 10 employees; achieved excellence in business through marketing, promotional activities and ethics. Makes contributions to their industry. Has demonstrated a high level of customer satisfaction, confidence and service. Promotes employee self-growth and development. Has proven their commitment to the community through personal and civic leadership and financial contributions
Rookie of the Year
Eligibility: In business for less than 3 years; achieved excellence in business through marketing promotional activities and ethics. Has demonstrated a high level of customer satisfaction, confidence and service. Has proven their commitment to the community through personal or civic leadership and financial contributions.
Business Leader of the Year
Eligibility: An individual of the Sherwood Community that has demonstrated leadership, made a significant and lasting contribution to their industry and profession. Has shown significant and lasting contributions to the Sherwood Community.
Citizen of the Year
Eligibility: Any individual who lives in the Greater Sherwood area. Has demonstrated superior leadership for a prosperous climate in Sherwood. Follows strong ethical and moral standards. Provides leadership and is a role model for others in the Sherwood Community.
Commitment to Youth Award
Eligibility: An individual or organization in the Greater Sherwood Area. Demonstrates a commitment to youth in the Sherwood community through their volunteering efforts, service and leadership.
Outstanding Community Service Award
Eligibility: A service club, volunteer, or non-profit organization within the Sherwood area. Demonstrated outstanding service to the community through leadership within own organization as well as involvement in the community. Has shown concern for the community by contributing their service, leadership and/or financial assistance.
Outstanding Youth Award
Eligibility: A selfless young person 21 years of age or younger within the Sherwood area. Demonstrated outstanding commitment in the community through civic activities and leadership. The nominee has given service and leadership in the community as a volunteer and is a role model among peers.
Golden Apple Award
Eligibility: An educator in the Sherwood School District. Has shown through classroom innovation, volunteering, or involvement in the community, a commitment to youth. Has consistently been a mentor to youth and continues to go above and beyond what is expected.
Age Friendly Business Award (New)
Eligibility: This award is given to a Sherwood organization or business that has shown a commitment to older adults in the Sherwood community by providing opportunities for personal growth and community inclusion of older adults or financial, emotional, physical, and/or spiritual support that promotes life-long living in Sherwood.
Some ways business & organizations can be Age-Friendly:
- Provide a welcoming and conducive environment for older adults. This can mean hiring older adults, older adult advocacy, sponsorship of programs that aid older adults and life-long living, making positive change for older adults, etc.
- Live assistance responding to questions and concerns as well as availability to help conduct business.
- Brick-and-mortar Age-Friendly businesses should have seating for older adults as well as accessible toilets.
- Older adults in a positive way in advertising and use fonts & graphics that are easy to read.
